The 2007 Washington Hospital Ball was held Saturday, April 14 and raised over $129,000 to benefit the hospital’s building project.

The event served as the official launch of the hospital’s capital campaign as Pat McCune, Chairman of The Washington Hospital Board of Trustees, announced the campaign’s leadership and the $9,000,000 goal.  Hospital president and CEO, Telford W. Thomas, explained plans for the expansion including a new Emergency Department, Critical Care Unit and expanded surgical services area.

Congratulations to co-chairs Nan Campbell and Liza Beale for organizing the highest grossing fundraising event in The Washington Hospital’s history.  Special thanks to 84 Lumber for being the Diamond Sponsor again.  Also, thank you to UPMC Health Plan and CentiMark Corporation for being the Emerald Sponsors.

The 2008 Ball will be held on April 26 at St. Clair Country Club.

            Women’s Healthcare at The Hospital

This year's 10-year members: Mary Wohleber, Joan Stephans, Mary Lyn Drewitz, Janet Darcangelo, and Susan Bunson

Since celebrating the Tenth Anniversary of the Ladies Golf Classic, we have started a new tradition.

When a participant reaches her 10 years of participation, she is presented with a "10-year" sterling silver pin.

Bridge Players: Dorothy Welch, Marianne Shumaker, and Lois Lane

Golfers: Tammy Zelenko, Karen Bray, Debbie Rybka, and Anne Hast

This unique event is planned by women, for women only, and benefits Women's Healthcare Services at the Hospital.

This year we had a full field of golfers at 32 foursomes and 20 bridge players.  Throughout the day the ladies enjoyed either golf or bridge.  At the end of the day they met back to bid on silent auction items and enjoy dinner.  Along with dinner was the evening program at which the winners were announced.

The outing raised nearly $69,000 and in its thirteen year history, this event has generated nearly $650,000 for Women’s Healthcare Services at the Hospital.

For more information on participating in the event or sponsorship opportunities, please contact the Foundation Office at (724)-223-3875.
