The mission of The Washington Hospital is simple: to provide great patient care. This mission drives everything we do, from providing care promptly and efficiently to making the patient and family experience the best possible.
While some of us provide care directly to patients, others support the patients, families and direct caregivers in other ways…the biller who answers a question about the patient’s bill…the maintenance worker who fixes the thermostat in a patient’s room…the volunteer who helps a patient or family member get to where they need to be. Each one makes possible great patient care.
While our name is “The Washington Hospital,” we are so much more than a hospital. We have truly become a health system. You will find Washington Hospital programs and services at more than 30 locations in Washington, Greene and southern Allegheny counties.
We are Greenbriar Treatment Center, one of the region’s largest addiction rehabilitation programs. We are the Wilfred R. Cameron Wellness Center, southwestern Pennsylvania’s premier medical fitness center. We are the Donnell House, the only freestanding inpatient hospice facility in Washington County.
To maintain our mission, we recognize that we must continue to grow as well.
During the past year, we added a second location for the Children’s Therapy Center, to help make those vital services more accessible for children and families. We partnered with four other hospitals and purchased a share of MedCare, a company which provides durable medical equipment to patients. Our ownership in MedCare gives us the opportunity to monitor the quality of products provided to patients, as well as share in revenues generated by the business.
We are expanding our services in the three fastest growing municipalities in Washington County: Cecil, North Strabane and Peters townships. In August we opened a new state-of-the-art primary care practice in McMurray, Lakeside Primary Care, led by Drs. Mary Lamb and Kristen Romesburg.
We are also expanding the current Cecil Family Medicine office on Route 50 in Cecil Township. This expansion will double the number of exam and procedure rooms, as well as provide space for specialists on our medical staff to have office hours in Cecil on a part-time basis. We expect to open the new Cecil Outpatient Center in winter 2012.
We continue to recruit primary care and specialty physicians to our medical staff. Without highly qualified physicians, we could not provide great patient care. The communities we serve are very fortunate to have such dedicated, compassionate men and women caring for them.
Whether it’s through new services, new technology or new locations, we will continue to make The Washington Hospital the regional health care system of choice for patients, physicians and employees.
