all doors are locked except the entrance at the Emergency Department.

Visitation Restrictions:

Two (2) visitors per patient at any one time for semiprivate rooms and four (4) visitors per patient for private rooms.

Two visitors per patient during labor and visitors must be at least 14 years of age.

Visitors may be asked to leave when necessary for patient care.

Visitors must be free from infection and observe all infection control  precautions when indicated.

Children under five (5) years of age will not be permitted except on the obstetrics unit after delivery.

Children between the ages of five (5) and twelve (12) must be accompanied by an adult at all times.

Visitors must check with the nursing staff before giving any food, beverages, or medications to patients.

Exceptions to the above restrictions and visiting hours may be considered on an individual basis according to patient and family need and should be approved by the attending  physician, nurse manager, or the administrative nursing supervisor.

Communication with Family

At the discretion of the attending physician or the nurse, a patient/family may be asked to identify one individual who will serve as a spokesperson (contact). That person will be the one with whom information will be shared. Other family members or concerned individuals will be encouraged to contact that spokesperson to get information.

Parking

Visitors are encouraged to park on the top two levels of the parking garage during visiting hours. Between the hours of 9:00 p.m. and 5:30 a.m. all doors are locked except the entrance at the Emergency Department.

Tokens to exit from the parking garage are $3.00.  They can be purchased at machines directly inside the doors leading from the garage to the hospital on all levels or from the Coffee Shop. Metered parking operated by the City of Washington is available on the streets adjacent to the hospital.
