More than 25 million Americans are now living with chronic lung disease. Help is available at The Washington Hospital Pulmonary Support Center.

Pulmonary support is a proven therapy for patients suffering from chronic lung conditions. The Pulmonary Support Center provides the most up-to-date diagnostic testing, equipment, pharmaceutical intervention and patient education for patients suffering from asthma, chronic bronchitis, emphysema and hyperactive airway disease. If you feel this program may help you manage your breathing problems, please talk to your doctor.

Education

Education about your specific illness can help you manage your symptoms, improve your quality of life and prevent future complications.

The Pulmonary Support Center’s educational plan includes:

Self-management skills. Learn how to manage specific problems such as shortness of breath, frequent cough, sleep problems and more.

bullet

Medication information. Including the why, the how, and what you may experience while taking certain medications.

bullet

Disease-specific information. Learn about your specific illness, including what causes it and what you can do about it. We provide individual education as well as education for family members or others involved in your care.

Ongoing education. Some programs do have a cost, and most are covered by your insurance. Please feel free to discuss this with your doctor or the Pulmonary Support staff.
