Admission Requirements

Minimum age of 18 on or before Dec. 31 of the year for which the application is made.

High school graduate or equivalent.

bullet

Applicants must successfully complete 15 college credits of general education 1) prior to enrollment, 2) concurrently during enrollment, or 3) after program completion in order to meet program completion requirements.  The general education courses are to include the following academic courses:

Medical Terminology (required before entering the program)

bullet

Mathematics (i.e. Algebra)

bullet

Written/Oral Communication

bullet

Humanities (i.e. Ethics)

bullet

Social/Behavioral Science (i.e. Human Diversity)

bullet

Applicants will be required to (1) complete an application for evaluation, (2) submit three references, and (3) arrange to have official high school and college transcripts forwarded to the program.

All applicants must contact the program office to take a pre-entrance exam, and should obtain a minimum composite percentile of 60. The administrative fee for this exam is $25 and is payable to the SRT Student Council the day of the examination.

Applicants who are offered enrollment must have a health history, physical, a negative drug screen, Act 33 (Child Abuse Clearance), and Act 34 (Criminal Background Check) completed prior to final acceptance into the program indicating that they are in good health with no physical or mental limitations which would endanger patients and other hospital personnel or interfere with the performance of the radiographer’s duties. The cost of the physical exam/drug screen is the responsibility of the applicant.

Qualified applicants will be admitted to the program without regard to race, color, religion, age, gender, national origin, sexual preference, or disability.  Notwithstanding this statement, a disability cannot interfere with the normal duties of a radiographer, including:

Assisting a patient from stretcher/wheelchair to the x-ray table

bullet

Moving the x-ray tube assembly in all directions

bullet

Placing a cassette in the bucky tray and removing it from the tray.

bullet

Lifting a 25-pound object.

bullet

Reading orders with extreme accuracy.

bullet

Observing a patient’s respiration as a distance of 10 feet.

bullet

Hearing a patient’s request with a radiographic room.

Submitted information will be held for 2 years.

Selection Procedure

Applicants meeting entrance requirements will be scheduled for an interview.

Point values will be assigned to academic performance, test performance, goal statement, work/volunteer experience, and the interview.

Acceptance into the program will be in accordance with the applicant’s ranked point value.
