The Washington Health System Behavioral Health Services multidisciplinary treatment team consists of experienced mental health professionals, including psychiatrists, psychiatric nurses, licensed clinical social workers, nursing support staff, recreational therapists and our latest addition milieu therapists. Our milieu therapist position will provide an emphasis on therapeutic activities conducted with individual therapy as well as group settings. A few of their duties will include the use of educational and therapeutic activities, encouraging or assisting patients to perform activities of daily living and assisting with the treatment team to provide the patient an understanding of their illness along with beginning their journey to recovery.
As part of our evaluation process, patients are first seen by medical providers in the emergency room. Any physiological illnesses discovered will be treated by the appropriate medical specialists prior to and during a stay on the unit, as needed.
We focus on accurately diagnosing the illness, then prescribing the right medications, providing patient education, and teaching coping skills so patients can return to their daily lives.
