Description:

Who: Children ages 9-13 years who use AAC devices to support communication

When: Monday, 4:00-5:00 P.M.

Cost:  Program is insurance based.

Therapists: Debbie Witkowski, CCC-SLP/ Melissa Rousseau, OTR

The group is designed to help kids who use AAC devices to increase their use of devices while having opportunities for peer interaction with other children who also use AAC.

The following communication skills will be targeted:

  • ·         Increased peer interaction
  • ·         Increased imitation skills
  • ·         Increased use of AAC device for a variety of purposes
  • ·         Increase use of core vocabulary
  • ·         Increased language and grammar skills
  • ·         Increased knowledge of basic concepts
  • ·         Increased emergent literacy skills

 

 

 

 

 

 

The following occupational therapy skills will be targeted:

  • ·         Increased fine motor skills
  • ·         Increased visual motor skills
  • ·         Increased knowledge of basic concepts
  • ·         Increased sequencing skills
  • ·          Increased functional ADL skills

 

 

 

 

A referral by therapist is required for this group. Please discuss with your child’s therapist if you are interested.
