What is the average length of time for testing to be completed?
- 30-45 minutes for X-rays
- 30-60 minutes for strep throat culture
- 60 minutes for blood work
- 50 minutes to 2.5 hours for CT scans
- 1 hour for ultrasound / Doppler studies
When should you choose to go to the emergency room?
If you feel that your condition is life-threatening, call 911 right away or proceed immediately to the closest emergency room. If you have chest pain, severe shortness of breath, stroke-like symptoms, severe abdominal pain, severe headache, severe infection, or if you have complex medical problems that make your care high risk, emergency room care would be more appropriate for you.
