Do I need to fast before my blood test?

Generally it’s best to fast even though it is not a requirement for most blood tests. There are a few tests, however, that require a fasting sample. The most commonly ordered blood tests that require fasting include:

Cholesterol Profile (LDL/HDL)……………..…12 hours

Will my insurance pay for my blood test?

Washington Health System Washington Hospital accepts most insurance, but you may want to check with your insurance carrier for specific details. Medicare and Medicare HMO patients may be asked to sign an Advance Beneficiary Notice (ABN) for tests not covered under Medicare.

 

 

Do I need an appointment for my blood test?

Washington Health System Washington Hospital Laboratory does not require appointments for most routine testing. There are a few tests, however, that can only be collected at the hospital because of special shipping and handling requirements. It is always best to check with the Laboratory if you have any questions (724) 223-3120.

 

 

Where can I go for my blood test?

Washington Health System Washington Hospital Laboratory is a fully accredited laboratory, (CAP, CLIA, JCAHO), which has more collection sites in Washington County than any other laboratory. There are eight conveniently located draw sites throughout Washington and Greene Counties.
