CT Scan (Computerized Tomography)

The state-of-the-art scanners at Washington Health System provide your doctor with the superior image quality required for the most accurate diagnosis. With the recent installation of the Prime 80 CT scanner, we can offer the latest technological advancements in cardiac and vascular imaging. We achieve this with faster exams, sophisticated reconstruction technologies and safeguards to prevent unnecessary exposure.

The CT scanners used, provide a customized radiation dose for each patient. This allows the highest quality images with the lowest possible dose. The ultra-fast scanning capabilities shorten exams so less contrast and radiation are required. The scanners have dose check software that alerts users if dose limits are exceeded prior to scanning. The care and safety of patients are Washington Health System’s primary concern.

Using a series of x-ray beams, the CT scanner creates high quality cross-sectional images. A computer is used to reconstruct these images to produce exceptional 3-D pictures. We offer advanced 3-D clinical applications for a variety of conditions to assist in diagnosis and treatment.

CT scanning rapidly produces detailed images of the body. This test may be used to visualize blood vessels, identify masses and tumors, or guide a radiologist to the correct area during a biopsy. It is valuable in diagnosing problems and injuries to the hands, feet, and other skeletal structures. CT scans can quickly identify injuries to the liver, spleen, kidneys and other internal organs. We are able to provide fast and accurate diagnoses while reducing radiation dose.

CT scans have greatly improved the ability of doctors to diagnose many diseases earlier in their course. Our CT scanners give us the ability to acquire the best possible images at the lowest possible radiation dose and contrast use.

The CT scans are performed by registered radiological technologists. The scans are read by board certified radiologists and cardiologists.
