CT Scan (Computerized Tomography)
The state-of-the-art scanners at Washington Health System Washington Hospital provide your doctor the superior image quality required for the most accurate diagnosis. With the installation of the 64 slice CT scanner, we can offer the latest technological advancements in cardiac and vascular imaging.
Using a series of x-ray beams, the CT scanner creates cross-sectional images. A computer is used to reconstruct these images to produce a 3-D picture. We offer advanced 3-D clinical applications for a variety of conditions to assist in diagnosis and treatment.
CT scanning rapidly produces detailed images of the body. This test may be used to visualize blood vessels, identify masses and tumors, or guide a radiologist to the correct area during a biopsy. It is valuable in diagnosing problems and injuries to the hands, feet, and other skeletal structures. CT scans can quickly identify injuries to the liver, spleen, kidneys and other internal organs.
The CT scanners used, provide a customized radiation dose for each patient. This allows the highest quality images with the lowest possible dose. The care and safety of patients are The Washington Hospital’s primary concern.
The CT scans are performed by registered radiological technologists. The scans are read by board certified radiologists and cardiologists.
CT scans have greatly improved the ability of doctors to diagnose many diseases earlier in their course. Further improvements in CT technology continue to evolve which promise even better picture quality and patient safety.
