Robotic - Assisted Surgery
State-of-the-art robotic-assisted surgery is now being used at Washington Health System Washington Hospital for a variety of procedures, including gallbladder, colon and rectal, gynecological, urological and ear, nose and throat procedures.
The da Vinci Surgical System is designed to overcome the limitations of manual laparoscopic surgery with enhanced capabilities, including high-definition 3D vision and a magnified view.
The surgeon controls the da Vinci system, which translates his or her hand movements into smaller, more precise movements of tiny instruments inside your body. Though it is called a robot, da Vinci cannot act on its own – the surgery is performed entirely by your doctor.
Potential Benefits of da Vinci Surgery Include:
- Minimal scarring
- Minimal pain
- Low blood loss
- Faster recovery
- Shorter hospital stay
- High patient satisfaction
