Sports Medicine Awards

Washington Health System Sports Medicine is beginning its third year of awarding 1 female, 1 male and 1 coach of the month from its partnered schools. This year’s participating schools are Fort Cherry, McGuffey, Trinity, and Washington. We proudly recognize the following individuals for the month of February.

Girls Basketball







Nicole participates on the varsity girls’ basketball team at Washington High School.  Her academic excellence is displayed by a 3.75 GPA. She is recognized by numerous teachers for her leadership in the classroom.  Nicole recently helped her team win their section title en route to the playoffs.  In addition to basketball, Nicole is member of the National Honor Society, SADD, homecoming committee, and prom committee.

Matt is a participant of the varsity boys’ basketball team at Washington High School.  His academic excellence is portrayed by a 3.59 GPA.  Matt led his team in scoring from his point guard position this season.  He is praised for his work ethic both in the classroom and on the court.  Matt is typically the first player to practice, even arriving before the coach, and the last to leave the court. 

Mike is the varsity girls’ basketball coach at Washington High School.  In his tenure as head coach, Mike has guided his team to 7 section titles and appearances in the WPIAL playoffs nearly every year he has been head coach.  Mike also coaches the fall 7th and 8th grade girls’ basketball team as well as summer league basketball.  He also conducts off-season workouts for his team.
